Sandbox and production use the same API host. The organization status, SANDBOX or LIVE, is the environment. This portal does not simulate a successful payment when a call fails.

Changelog and versions

The merchant API has no version prefix and no version header. The current contract is unversioned. Clients should ignore new JSON fields. A removed or renamed field will be listed here before it is treated as a breaking change.

Current contract

  • POST /api/card/collect starts a hosted card checkout and returns checkoutUrl.
  • Bank transfers accept UGX 2,500 through 50,000,000. Fees follow the organization push-to-bank policy.
  • Collection and payout minimum is UGX 500.
  • Callbacks are unsigned single POSTs. Bank transfers have no callback fields.
  • Status values exposed to API clients are SUCCEEDED, FAILED, and PENDING.
  • POST /api/get_status/{externalReference} returns a transaction only when it belongs to the organization stored on the API credential.

Older response shapes

Some controllers still contain comments for an earlier message / errorCode body. The current success body is response plus data. The phone lookup at /api/verify_msisdn still returns the older provider payload. Prefer /api/msisdn-verification.
